Who will help and hurt their resume tonight? You know the drill by now, it’s either a bubblicious, resume-enhancing or plain ol’ bubble game. Let’s dig in!
Bubblicious - Two bubble teams squaring off in an ultra-important game. These could feature teams inside the latest Bracketology predictions or those outside them. Or both. Either way, it’s teams who have not played themselves into LOCK status just yet.
UConn vs Seton Hall - 7 pm FS1
A week ago this looked like it would have been a resume-enhancing opportunity for UConn (12-6, 9-6, NCAA NET 36). However, Seton Hall has lost two in a row and now the game is more important for the Pirates. UConn is in the Last Four Bye category, while Seton Hall (13-10, 10-7, NCAA NET 53) is among the Last Four In listing according to ESPN Bracketologist Joe Lunardi. Seeding in next week’s Big East tournament on the line as well.
Resume Enhancing - A bubble team taking on a team right now that is solidly in the field of 68, creating a chance for a quality win to improve a team’s resume.
Syracuse vs Clemson - 5 pm ACCN
The Orange moved up to Next Four Out with their win over UNC Monday night. Now, Syracuse (14-8, 8-7; NCAA NET 56) gets a chance against a Clemson squad that is firmly in the field as a seven-seed and won five games in a row. Syracuse does NOT have a Quad 1 win. Here’s their chance. Clemson won the first game 78-61 on February 6, 2021.
Stanford at USC - 10:30 pm FS1
If the Cardinal wants to enter the at-large discussion, a win at Pac-12 leader USC will aid their cause. This would be a fifth Quad 1 for Stanford (14-11, 10-9, NCAA NET 64). USC won at Stanford 72-66 on February 2, 2021.
Bubble Games - These games pit a team on the Bubble playing a non-Bubble team, who can ill-afford a conceived “bad” loss. The “bubble” team is listed first.
Minnesota at Penn State - 7 pm Big 10
The Golden Gophers (13-12, 6-12, NCAA NET 69) are looking to break a five-game losing streak and gain some momentum heading into the Big 10 Tournament. A win tonight and home Saturday vs Rutgers will stem the tide. They will likely need to win the Big 10 Tournament, but two wins this week will give this team some confidence heading into Indianapolis. Minnesota hasn’t won a road game this year. Tonight would be a good time for their first.
Wichita State at Tulane - 6 pm ESPN+
Wichita State (11-4, 9-2; NCAA NET 66) was seeded 12th in the latest Lunardi Bracketology and in the field as the current league leader of the American. They have a 9-2 mark while Houston is 13-3. The Shockers control their own destiny for the regular-season crown this week with wins at Tulane and South Florida.
Colorado State vs New Mexico - 8 pm
Colorado State (16-4, 13-3; NCAA NET 43) is a 12-seed in Lunardi’s latest Bracket and tied with San Diego State for the regular-season crown in the Mountain West. The Rams need a win tonight before traveling to Nevada Friday night.
