Sunday Super Wild Card Weekend preview: Picks and predictions on Packers-Cowboys and Rams-Lions

Credit: Dallas Cowboys

The NFL playoffs are finally upon us. We only have 14 NFL games in the NFL season left, and o time to waste.

Still, though - we're hot, finishing the regular season 10-6 in our final few weeks.

So with that said, let's not waste any more time, as I have one pick and one lean for Sunday's games, with more picks to come on Monday.

Now, to the picks:

Green Bay at Dallas

Spread: Dallas -7

Total: 50

With Pittsburgh-Buffalo postponed until Monday, let's get to the 4:30 ET game, and let me start by saying this: You can make the argument Green Bay is the most improved team in the NFL. The team has drastically improved since December. Green Bay quarterback Jordan Love has thrown for 4,100 yards and 32 touchdowns. Green Bay’s offense ranks 7th EPA after being ranked near the bottom in the league earlier in the season.

But, I think in this matchup, they are very outgunned. Dallas is third in the NFL in pressure rate while not blitzing much at all. They rank 3rd in passing yards allowed. Love is going to be feeling all the pressure. Green Bay does not have much of a ground game. You need to be able to run the ball to keep Dallas off-balanced.

Beyond that, Green Bay is going to struggle on the defensive side of the ball. Dallas has the number one scoring offense in the NFL, averaging 29.1 points per game. Green Bay only gives up 20.1 points per game. Every team moves the ball on them. They are allowing 5.5 yards per play and 4.4 yards per rush. Dallas’s offensive line is going to control the line of scrimmage.

Ultimately, there is a chance Dallas falls on its face. Green Bay has the better head coach, and Dallas defensive coordinator Dan Quinn has been involved with Seattle opening. The talent overwhelming favors Dallas- but I won’t pick them to cover due to their history of disappointing in the playoffs.

They should move on to play in the divisional round for the second straight year.

Lean: Dallas -7 (use Dallas only in ML parlays

Los Angeles at Detroit

Spread: Detroit -3

Total: 52

I don’t want to pick a side here. This is just a fun matchup. The NFL script writers deserve a Golden Globe for giving us this Sunday Night matchup.

You have Matt Stafford coming back to Detroit and have Jared Goff facing the team who traded him. This team is very similar. They have very aggressive head coaches. They have the two of the best running schemes in football, two accurate quarterbacks, explosive offensive receiving weapons, and two mediocre defenses.

Point being: The team that will get the most stops will win.

Detroit is looking to win their first playoff game in a millennium. A lot of emotions riding here. This can play good or bad. We are going to play over. Detroit is allowing a league worst 7.7 yards per attempt. Detroit can run and sling the rock too.

I wouldn’t be surprised if each team scored 30 points each. Have fun and take over.

The pick: Over 52
