Hesitating on pulling the trigger, right before opening kickoff?
I know… there are some interesting names on your waiver wire. They are probably all under the “free agent” designation at the moment. Well, let’s take a quick look before it’s simply too late…
12-Team, Full-Point PPR, Superflex
Working off an actual league I am in…
QB Drew Lock: Remember, I am talkin’ Superflex here; if Bridgewater falters, Lock will be one of the first in the league to get a replacement opportunity.
QB Davis Mills: We won’t be seeing Deshaun Watson, and I doubt Tyrod Taylor will still be playing when Houston is 1-5 or 1-6.
QB Taylor Heinicke: I just have a bad feeling about “FitzMagic” this season; plain and simple. Heinicke showed an awful lot in the playoffs last season.
RB Le’Veon Bell: Personally, I wouldn’t do it; would much, much rather have Ty’Son Williams or Latavius Murray. But, Bell is one of the most picked up on Yahoo right now.
RB JD McKissic: Was a truly pleasant surprise as a productive pass-catcher in PPR formats last season.
RB Phillip Lindsay: To me, he could easily leave both David Johnson and Mark Ingram in the dust.
WR Terrace Marshall Jr: A recently-hyped rookie with upside because Curtis Samuel is out of the way in Carolina.
WR Dyami Brown: Speaking of Samuel, his injury opens the door for Dyami in Washington. Not much here behind McLaurin and Logan Thomas.
WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling: Could hit a homerun deep ball and win you a week.
TE Zach Ertz: People might be just a little too pumped up on Dallas Goedert right now.
12-Team, Standard, No PPR
Again, workin’ off an actual league I am in…
RB Ty Johnson: Tevin Coleman will be on a pitch count throughout the season and Johnson is an underrated battler and bruiser. Runs with serious purpose.
RB Cordarrelle Patterson: Also has WR eligibility and Wayne Gallman still has to learn the playbook in Atlanta.
RB Malcolm Brown: Never know with a change of scenery; maybe Brian Flores will take a specific liking to him when the bright lights of the regular season are turned on.
WR AJ Green: Another change of scenery, and DeAndre Hopkins always draws all the defensive attention for Arizona.
WR DeSean Jackson: Can I say “change of scenery” three times in a row? What if Matt Stafford finds the long-ball connection with the veteran D-Jax?
WR Darius Slayton: Sterling Shepard has suddenly been anointed way better than Slayton; I don’t agree with the public on this.
TE Tyler Kroft: Chris Herndon has been traded by New York, and rookie Zach Wilson already seems to like Kroft in the redzone.
14-Team, 0.5 PPR
Same deal. An actual league I am in.
RB Devontae Booker: Saquon Barkley can’t seem to stay healthy and Booker is coming off his best and most decisive season in the pros.
RB Carlos Hyde: Door to opportunity opened up with Travis Etienne’s unfortunate season-ending injury.
RB Jerick McKinnon: Pass-catcher in an explosive Chiefs’ offense.
WR Deonte Harris: Michael Thomas is on the shelf and this Saints’ WR corps is wide open. Tre’Quan Smith just went on IR, too.
WR Kadarius Toney: Rookie selected in the first round; hey, ya never know.
WR KJ Hamler: Sneaky kid in the slot; Jeudy and Fant will draw defensive attention away from him.
TE Jared Cook: Sophomore Justin Herbert could take a liking to Cook’s veteran presence in sticky situations.
Best of luck this fantasy season!
