A couple quick thoughts on the odds and field.
First off, while Texas is a slight favorite, it probably isn't all that surprising that Stanford comes in with the second best odds. The Cardinal were the national No. 2 seed overall and Pac-12 champ, and ironically, are one of only two teams (along with Texas A&M) to advance to Omaha after winning a Super Regional on its home field.
Still, things won't be easy as they face a juiced up Arkansas team. The Hogs are on a bit of a revenge tour this year, after failing to make it to Omaha as the No. 1 overall seed last year. Arkansas have been road warriors this entire tournament, winning a regional in front of a raucous crowd in Stillwater, before advancing to the College World Series after sweeping North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
Notre Dame is maybe the surprise of all surprises here in Omaha, as they pulled off one of the biggest upsets in recent college baseball history - winning a regional against No. 1 seed Tennessee. The Irish are a veteran club with eight graduates in their starting lineup, and as we learned last week, no fear of big games or the big stage.
In terms of the rest of the field, it definitely has a heavy SEC flavor. Auburn advanced out of the Corvallis region, winning a due or die Game 3 on Monday, and Ole Miss is in Omaha after barely sneaking into the NCAA Tournament field.
Texas A&M is maybe the best remaining story, winning the SEC West and getting to the College World Series under first year head coach Jim Schlossnagle.
