As Aaron talked about on today's Aaron Torres Podcast, what Sam Pittman is doing at Arkansas is one of the wildest turnarounds we've seen in recent memory.
To take a program that hadn't won an SEC game in two years before he arrived, and now have them in the Top 25 less than 24 months later, is just a stunning turnaround.
Of course it was all cap-stoned over the weekend when the Hogs absolutely annihilated Texas in Fayetteville on Saturday. The final score read 40-21, and frankly it wasn't even that close.
Well, over the weekend video emerged of Arkansas AD Hunter Yurachek on the field, right before the students stormed the field, as well as him celebrating with Sam Pittman on the field and in the tunnel of the stadium.
And let's just say it is... AWESOME.
First off, big shouts to Yurachek. In this politically correct, everyone is afraid of everything era we live in, to see the AD basically be told "You know those goal posts are about to come down and him responding by saying "Yeah, we'll replace them, no biggie" is pretty bad ass. So too is letting the students storm the field, without pretending to be fake outraged that something bad might happen. It's college. Let college kids be college kids.
Finally, just a quick shout out to Pittman.
Again, what he has done in Fayetteville is damn incredible. Again, off two straight winless SEC seasons, the Hogs went 3-7 last year against an All-SEC schedule. Now this year, he has them ranked in the Top 25 for the first time since 2016.
It won't be easy for the Hogs, who - incredibly - still have to play at Georgia, at Alabama, at Ole Miss and at LSU the rest of the way, not to mention, Texas A&M on a neutral and Auburn at home.
But this rebuild is wayyyyy ahead of schedule, and doesn't appear to be slowing down anytime soon.
