College football recruiting is a 365-day-a-year interest in many parts of the country, and there is reason to believe that when it's all said and done, Arch Manning might go down as the single most touted recruit that's ever lived.
While it sounds like hyperbole, it really isn't. The combination of Arch being the No. 1 player, at the No. 1 position on the field (quarterback) is enough to get fan-bases all across America feeling tingly for whenever Arch utters their names. The fact that he is the grandson of Archie Manning and the nephew of Peyton and Eli, means that his recruitment is set to go into another stratosphere in the coming months, and maybe year.
Therefore, every time Arch does so much as thinks about a college football program we're going to cover it here - and that includes Saturday, when Arch will visit one national power: It's Georgia, who will host South Carolina this weekend.
The news was first reported by 247 Sports' Steve Wilfong, and here is what Manning had to say about the 'Dawgs.
“Georgia is good this year,” Manning said. “Beat Clemson week one and then had a good showing against UAB with Stetson (Bennett). So I’m just excited. Kirby is a really good coach and I’m excited to get up there and see what game is all about in Athens.
“That’s definitely more of a pro-style offense than some colleges. I’m excited and Coach (Todd) Monken is a really good coach and I think they’re going to have a good year and it’s going to be cool watching them in person. Athens is really cool. That was probably the coolest college town there is. Coach Kirby he has a good program. He’s a really laid-back good guy and seems like a guy I want to play for.”
The visit to Georgia is just the latest, in the whirlwind recruitment of the youngest Manning phenom, that started years ago, but really picked up speed when players were allowed to once again visit campuses back in early June.
From there, Manning made stops all over the country, and the trip to Georgia is the first of many this fall, to see live game action.
Per Wilfong, here is Manning's schedule this fall:
October 2nd: Visit to Alabama (Ole Miss at Alabama)
October 16th: Visit to Texas (Oklahoma State at Texas)
October 23rd: Visit to Ole Miss (LSU at Ole Miss)
October 30th: *Tentative visit to Clemson (Florida State at Clemson)
There could be other visits planned (you'd like to think home-state LSU and Tennessee, where his uncle Peyton played would like to get into the mix) but as of right now, it appears as though there is no real leader in the clubhouse for Manning's services.
One thing that's for sure: This will be a recruitment that everyone in college football will keep their eyes on.
Starting at Georgia this weekend.
