Al Roker was in the middle of Hurricane Ida absolutely getting pummeled by waves yesterday

Hurricane Ida is no joke, and it goes without saying that everyone's thoughts and prayers are with the folks down in Louisiana right now.

Speaking of which, one guy who is down there right now - and was smack dab in the middle of the storm yesterday was veteran newsman/weatherman Al Roker.

That's right, long before he was a regular on "The Today Show" and a staple on the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, Roker was in fact a weather man, and this week he went back to his roots.

At 67-years-old he went down to New Orleans and found himself smack dab in the middle of the storm on Sunday evening.

Literally.

My, oh my.

But for those who feel bad for Roker, or were wondering "why the hell would they send a 67-year-old man into the middle of the storm" think again.

Roker let the world know that it was his decision. And he wanted to be there.

"I volunteered to come out here," Roker said on Monday morning. "This is what I do. I've done this for 40 years.

And then, the hammer: "For those who think he's too old, screw you."

In all seriousness though, while we're glad Roker is ok, we know how serious of a scene it is down there in Louisiana.

Hope everyone stays safe.
